Description

Gentle swaddle babies in the cocoon. It's cute, and it truly supports families in their sleep journey.
Now, you can knit it yourself - in the special "Mariniere" version (iconic navy-white stripes) of the cocoons by Brooknit Bonneterie.

What is a cocoon?
The cocoon provides gentle and safe swaddling to the baby, with a permanent feeling of contact all around them, without the physical restraints of traditional swaddling.

It's about containing, not constraining.
It contains the movements, like the awakening startling Moro reflex, while providing some range of gesture: accessing their hands for discovery, stretching their legs, and small rotations of neck and head, so critical for their motor developments, gain of control and balance.
It is usable right from birth until up to 6 months (average baby size), even after baby starts rolling over!

Where does it come from?
The cocoon was designed in France by Agathe, French pediatric physical therapist,  knitter genius, and co-founder of Ma Petite Laine.
It is brought to America by Julie, French New Yorker, knitter and founder of Brooknit Bonneterie, under an exclusive licensing agreement.
The cocoons have already helped countless families, and is making its way to the neo-natal units in French hospitals!

What's in the kit?
The kits are prepared by Julie, founder of Brooknit Bonneterie.

They contain all you need to be able to knit it, even for beginners!
- The yarn! You need 100% Merino wool in the right amount for the 2 colors (each 3.6 oz for the primary color), 2 mini-cakes of yarn (each 1oz) for the stripes.
- Explanations and pattern documents: all the instructions to follow step by step. It includes QR codes with access to step-by-step video series, to show you the moves!

- 1 cable needle. The little piece of magic to make the cable section.

- 1 tapestry needle. The small essential to finish the cocoon by weaving the ends.

- 5 stitch markers. Never too many of those!

- 1 marker row counter. So helpful to track your progress.

- 1 cloth label to be sewn.

- 2 no-iron fabric labels to add the baby's name (ideal to put on the back of the cloth label)

- 1 little card for a keepsake or if you knit and gift!

All items are stored in cotton drawstring bags. The larger one, containing the yarn, can also be used as a wash bag to protect the item in the washing machine.

Knitting needles are optional. Quick tips to choose yours!
