What about Maison Gannac ?
Maison Gannac is first and foremost the story of a family of passionate citrus growers from Menton who have been committed to quality for over thirty years.
Laurent Gannac, the father, is an agriculturalist and landscape gardener who maintains around thirty species and varieties of citrus fruits, including IGP Menton lemons, kumquats, yuzus, clementines, grapefruits and citrons (previously known as cedrates).
Adrien Gannac, his son, is a citrus alchemist. He manages to draw perfection out of the fruits that are grown by his father using traditional agricultural methods while respecting the environment.
Did you know that ?
The Menton lemon was awarded the IGP label (protected geographical identification) in October 2015. We call it the caviar of the Riviera ! And do you know how to recognize a Citron de Menton ?
It's not easy to recognize a Menton lemon at first glance, but when you taste it, a few things stand out :
- Its very juicy pulp, with higher acidity and sugar levels and extremely pronounced aromas,
produces an almost transparent juice with yellow highlights.
- Its rind is perhaps its most distinctive feature. You already know that the rind of a lemon
contains more active ingredients than the pulp (notably the famous flavonoids, reputed to be
anti-carcinogenic).
- Zest around the edge is light to dark yellow, intense, luminous, sometimes greenish, and very rich in active ingredients and exceptional aromas. The albedo (or ziste - white part) is generally fleshy and very pleasant to taste when fresh, for its lack of bitterness, high sugar content and slightly oily texture.
One thing's for sure : everything's good about lemon de menton! Intense aromas and moderate acidity give it an inimitable taste.
