About Martin Pouret
Vinegar making and the city of Orleans have been linked historically since the Renaissance, when wine was transported by boat on the Loire to reach Paris. Orleans being the last river port of their journey, the wines that turned during the journey are disembarked and feed the 300 vinegar makers of the city. No less than 80% of France vinegars are then produced in Orleans.
Martin Pouret is one of the finest producer in France since 1797! They are still respecting traditional savoir-faire: that’s why their products, from vinegars, pickles and mustard are the finest!
For the famous “moutarde d’Orleans” the mustard seeds are soaked in wine vinegar are crushed with a stone wheel to obtain a fine, creamy and delicious texture.
✨ As recently featured by David Lebovitz, bestselling author of My Paris Kitchen, Martin Pouret stands out as one of the last artisan vinegar makers in France. During his visit to Orléans, he discovered their exceptional vinegars aged in wine barrels using the traditional “Orléans” method, crafted from local Loire Valley wines. Lebovitz also raved about their mustards made from 100% French-grown seeds (a rarity in France), their regionally sourced cornichons—“the best I’ve ever had”—and their smoked ketchup, which even converted this self-professed non-ketchup lover!
