Craftsmanship and tradition are the foundation for our Pumpkinseed Oil: The large, hull-less oil pumpkin seeds are peeled from the pumpkins by hand, and – according to old Austrian tradition – cleaned in clear water and gently roasted at 70 °C / 158 °F. The Styrian oil pumpkin produces particularly large seeds of exclusive taste. Still, it takes the seeds of 30 to 50 pumpkins to get 1 L of pumpkinseed oil. The oil’s characteristically dark color results from high contents of chlorophyll and carotene in the seeds’ coats.

Pumpkinseed oil has a distinctive individual flavor which makes it an all-rounder in application: Lettuce, raw or warm vegetables and even vanilla ice cream receive a pleasantly piquant note when this oil is added. A couple of splashes on jacket potato or on warm goat’s cheese provide an especially hearty culinary experience. The oil also excels in improving fondue sauce.
